Education Foundation
Since its inception Texas Music Teachers Educational Foundation has been financially responsible for student awards to provide goals and inspiration. These awards recognize achievement in performance, music theory, music history, publication, ensemble, and original composition. Financial sponsorship is provided for student winners who represent Texas at the Division and National levels.
Funds
These funds are maintained separately from operating accounts.
Jo Ann Dunn Fargason Memorial Fund helps fund the orchestra at the annual convention. The orchestra accompanies student winners.
Elizabeth Morris Memorial Fund helps to provide Ensemble Senior Awards.
Donald Johnson Fund provides money for selected MTNA and TMTA winners.
Agency Trust Fund supports various awards for Student Affiliate.
Student Travel Fund was established to make funds available to student winners who will travel to higher levels of competition.
Contributions
Recognition is given to associations who contribute $2.00 per member. These associations are noted as Fargason Fund Angels. An additional challenge issued in 2008 encourages associations to donate $5.00 per member - $3.00 to the Fargason Fund and $2.00 to the Travel Fund.
Memorials and honorariums are accepted and recognized at the annual convention. These are charitable contributions and are considered such for tax purposes.
