The Independent Music Teachers Forum provides opportunities for communication and collaboration affecting the independent music teacher.

Possible Sessions for Convention:

• Copyright issues

• Sharing of studio policies from various studios from around the state – including business practices, make-up lessons, scheduling, studio fees, etc.

College Faculty Forum/ IMTF Panel Session

• Plans are being made to continue on with this session, with ideas already in place for topics to be discussed

Ideas From Various Associations

Have a report or an IMTF “minute” at every meeting, which calls attention to maintaining a professional image, some include book reviews with various topics pertaining to our profession.

Provide one program for your association that relates to the business or professional demeanor of independent teachers.

Conduct surveys among the members regarding policies so that everyone will have an idea about what other independent teachers are doing.

Conduct anonymous surveys on fees charged for lessons, playing for parties and weddings, and other musical services.

Call attention to the IMTF articles in the AMT magazine.
