Convention Activities for All Students

Texas Music Teachers Association provides a diverse range of student activities for many ages – children to adults. The goal is to offer activities that offer a comprehensive education for the music student.

At the annual TMTA Convention, students participate in the Convention Projects, All-Star Festival, Chamber Music Clinic and the Ensemble Music Contest. Students may experience the excitement of performing in a keyboard orchestra or guitar workshop. Convention Student Affiliate events include Ensemble, Original Composition, Performance Contest and recognition for student award winners.

Additional Convention Activities for Student Affiliate Members

TMTA Student Affiliate is an organization of students of TMTA teachers. TMTA-SA provides an integrated curriculum including performance and composition competitions, ensemble participation, testing in music theory, development of skills in music composition, study of music history both through reading/testing and research, and a chance to provide community service. Students who participate in TMTA-SA activities earn points that contribute toward significant awards.

Local affiliated organizations provide additional festivals, competitions and other events.
